GROW!
What does that mean to you?
Is it a negative or positive word when you hear it?
One-2-One tutors use the word: GROW as part of our tutoring / mentoring sessions to focus and drive our students.
But what does the word GROW mean?
G stands for: Goal.
Have a set goal that motivates you and something you genuinely want to achieve. Make sure it’s a SMART goal: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound.
R stands for: Reality.
This is to determine where you are currently at. Have you started making any steps towards your goals? Are you holding back in getting started and achieving your goals? What are you scared/ afraid of?
It’s about analysing the right now of your current stepping stones to your abilities and goals.
O stands for: Options.
What options are there to help me achieve my goal? Am I exploring all avenues to help reach my potential? You need to look at all options that are around you to help develop your ability and knowledge. But at the same time make sure nothing is getting in your way; which is known as your obstacles. Is there anything getting in the way of achieving your goals? If so, you need to bat them out the way in order to get to the end result.
W stands for: Will.
Will you do it? Will you take the plunge and work hard towards a rewarding goal? It’s about self- motivation, self- determination and self- drive. But also, it’s about who is around you to help you succeed.
What could stop you moving forward? How will you overcome this?
So… what are you waiting for? BELIEVE in yourself because you can reach your goal!
